When we started watching Riverdale it was this harmless comic book to TV adaptation and a good one at that. It brought the classic tale of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead and the other inhabitants of the small town by Sweet Water lake to the small screen with an apt live-action rendition. It wasn’t long ago that I was listing down reasons for why the show is an adaptation with little in the way of mistakes. While my opinions have been slightly altered since, there’s no denying that the cliffhangers from the show’s finale episodes only get amped up with every passing season. Riverdale Season 3 ended with a massive cliffhanger and it has loyal fans diving right into the fourth instalment of the crazy Netflix show.

Is it just me or did Bizarrodale just get crazier? For most of the part, I am strongly against the happening of another season but if it must and if we must as a fandom see this through to the end, we need answers. And to match the urgency of each answer, we have some burning questions. Here’s every little query on my mind going into Riverdale Season 4:
Okay, where is Jughead?
One of the teasers features a bloodied beanie and Betty insisting that they should burn all their clothes and wash off the blood in what looks like the end of a summer vacation. Riverdale fans swear by protecting Jughead Jones at any cost and they can’t imagine the town moving over the Southside Serpent King. Did their summer escapade really result in the death of a major character? That town-wide search party we saw doesn’t help with our concerns.
Who is the real Gargoyle King anyway?
We know, via the confusing time-jump into the past featuring Riverdale characters playing their own parents that the grown-ups also indulged in a drug-induced game of G&G. The game night left young Alice Cooper in shock as she witnesses the Gargoyle King for the very first time. She wasn’t on drugs so we know that she didn’t hallucinate so who was it? We know that Penelope was the deviant who poisoned the chalices and set the game in motion but what we don’t know is who was underneath the Gargoyle King’s mask back then. Could it be Hal and if not, are they still in the town?
Where is Penelope?
Speaking of the mastermind, where’d Penelope go? By the end of Season 3 Pen forces Betty, Veronica, Jughead and Archie into a last game of G&G and left them fighting for their lives. She wants everyone to suffer the same fate as her beloved son Jason Blossom and in an effort to exact vengeance, she created an army of followers. But by the end of the game, there’s no news of her or her troops. Where could so many people disappear without a trace?
What about the Farm? And why were they harvesting organs anyway?
Betty (and all of us) saw those neatly lined up containers filled with kidneys, livers and other meaty human body parts back at the Farm. We also saw past Evelyn Evernever’s act as she was on the receiving end of dialysis to help with her kidney failure. Now that reveals husband Edgar’s intention but as Betty points out, all those organs can’t be just for Evelyn. Who is it for then? Is there something bigger in the works?
Where did the farm (along with Betty’s mom) disappear and why did all the farmies leave their clothes behind?
In Season 3 Alice Cooper helps Cheryl escape, we find out that she’s been working undercover with the FBI and wasn’t as crazy as earlier assumed. After Cheryl runs away from the nightmare, the cavalry arrives to save the rest of the farmies. But when they return, there’s nobody left barring Kevin. Kevin says that everyone else has ascended. More importantly, everyone left their farm clothes behind. What’s up with that?
How did Charles survive?
Chic wasn’t just insane, he also conjured up the worst lies. In Season 3 he makes it known that he killed Charles after claiming that he died of an overdose. Season 3 also revealed that Betty’s biological brother Charles is actually alive. Now we also know that Chic’s neighbour saw bloodied sheets being carried out of the room he shared with Charles. Did Charles survive the brutal fight Chic spoke off or did Chic make the whole thing up so that he can live with the Coopers?
Don’t even get me started on the Lodges! Riverdale Season 4 better answer all these questions in detail to their invested fandom. We can’t wait to find out what becomes of senior year in Riverdale as the show returns for a twistier, crazier and if the trailer is to be believed hotter season.
